J.J.'s Music Page

Welcome to my class!

I am hoping to make music fun and meaningful for all ages.  In the elementary, we will be learning the fundamentals of music, playing games, and preparing for concerts.  In the Junior High choir we will be working toward singing in 3 part-singing.

In the High School we are doing a great job at singing in 3 part mixed music and are  beginning to sing in 4 part octavos.  The High school students are also singing  in a men's choir and a women's choir.

In January, 2007, three senior girls were chosen to attend Dorian Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Minnie Albert, Megan Harris, and Tia Morgan performed in the 1400 member choir.  Coming in February will be performances by the Junior High and High School Choirs, in our portion of the concert on the 16th. Solos and small groups will also be presented at that time.

In the News
Our first concert of the year will be held on October 26, 2006.  Our theme this year will be the "British Invasion".  Performers will include the 5th and 6th grade classes, the Junior High Choir, the High School Choir, and the Show Choir.

This year the Clarksville High School Choir will be participating in the Iowa Star Conference Vocal Festival on Monday, November 13, 2006.  This year the festival will be held at Janesville and the guest director will be Dr. Brad Barrett from the University of Northern Iowa.  The students will be performing 5 pieces as a mass choir and the Clarksville Choir will perform one piece.

The first concert including the entire elementary will be the Christmas Concert.  It will be held, banning nasty weather, on Thursday, December 7th, at 7 p.m. in the East gymnasium.  A letter will be sent home to each class about attire and possible props.
